Motorcycle gangs are just like all other gangs, except they ride motorcycles. This group of gangs have been doing weapons trafficking and drug trafficking. The drugs and arms help to support the gang members and to finance their other criminal operations.

This type of gang is very unpredictable, they can be very violent and often attack police officers with no obvious provocation. Some gangs actually require pledges to attack, even murder police to join or move up in the ranks of the gang.

When making a traffic stop on motorcycle gang members, have them turn off the motorcycle. The noise can make communication difficult. Get good information, and run them for wants and warrants. Be aware of the potential for a following vehicle, particularly a van. If you have the suspect stay on the motorcycle then you can maintain a tactical advantage. Call for back up if you can get one there in a reasonable time. Treat them as any other violator, but keep alert to possible assault; that's what the SGT Says.
