Police Uniforms

The police uniform must be instantly identifiable as a police uniform.  Too many agencies are going to uniforms that look like soldiers and not police.  Police are not soldiers and their uniforms should not have a military appearance.

Police uniforms should always have a badge on the chest, a name tag, agency patches on the shoulders as minimum identifiers.  "Police" in large letters on the back and even the front is also a method to make police look less like soldiers.

Some aspects of law enforcement must use weapons and equipment that is similar to that of soldiers.  Despite this police should make an effort to look like police.  Part of the nature of American law enforcement is that it is carried out by local civilian police, not soldiers from the central government.  That's something worth preserving; that's what the SGT Says.
