Avoid backlighting in a low light environment.  We make an easy target when we are backlit.  You look just like a silhouette target on the range when standing in a doorway with the lights behind you.  Turn the lights off behind you, or move low and fast through a doorway.

You can also dominate the room you are entering with light.  You and your partner can use gun mounted lights or hand held lights to illuminate the interior and to make the doorway a lighted area so that your body is not actually silhouetted.

Turn lights on in a room you are about to enter, light switches are nearly always just inside the doorway.  Light can be a strong ally or a great foe.  Always consider lighting and use it to your advantage; that’s what the SGT Says.
