Officer Deaths

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/12/30/law-enforcement-deaths/4247393/

In 2013 111 officers were killed in the line of duty.  Automobile accidents were the largest killer of police officers.  There is much you can do to reduce that toll.  Many times these were one vehicle accidents or collisions where the officer was at fault.

Wear your seat belt.  Even a minor collision at a slow speed can injure you badly without a seat belt.  Seat belts are not made obsolete by the use of the air bag; they are made more effective.  They can't help you if you don't wear them.

Slow down.  Officers often drive way too fast.  Single car collisions where the officer is driving 100+ mph are not uncommon, they should be.  If you crash on the way to the call, then you create more problems to be solved; that's what the SGT Says.
