Academy

In the police academy the recruits are often punished by having to do push ups or by running.  This simply re-enforces the idea that exercise is uncomfortable and no fun.  Police officers should be encouraged to exercise, not to view it as punishment.

In the police academy the recruits are often given marksmanship training but little opportunity for them to gain actual tactical shooting skills.  Police recruits should train transition to and from the rifle and pistol.  They should learn escalation and de-escalation of force, to include shooting.

In the police academy the recruits are often given assignments to write reports.  The reports are often rather pre-packaged instead of based on actual events witnessed by the recruits.  Tactical training should be integrated with report writing so the recruits can be better trained; that's what the SGT Says.
