Abridged Patrol Manual

Many years ago I worked for a large private security company called Westec.  They were very innovative in those days and I still see a need for much of what they did 20 years ago in today's police work.

We published this abridged patrol manual.  It contained all the most important information for a patrol officer to know when out in the field.  It was specifially sized to fit inside the shirt pocket of an officer.  Manuals were dated and updated as significant policies changed.

Every officer was issued one during their initial training along with an unabridged manual.  They were required to carry this one with them at all times when on duty in uniform.  Supervisors always had a few on had to replace those that went through the wash or were lost.  Supervisors would check periodically to insure officers had one.  This is a good idea, even now; that's what the SGT Says.
