Car Check

When first reporting for duty on patrol there are a number of things to do before you start.  Check the patrol car.  Make sure your overhead and other emergency lights all work.  Make sure your spotlights work.

Lock and unlock your patrol rifle and shotgun.  Make sure they can be easily removed and check the status of the ammunition and safety.  Check the radio and your handheld radio.  Make sure you have a fresh battery.

Check the car for cleanliness, weapons and drugs or other items in the prisoner transport area.  Check the trunk and glove box.  Insure the fire extinguisher is charged, that you have flares and rubber gloves.  A quick check is a good idea before you go on patrol, that's what the SGT Says.
